题目

Problem

The curve CC has equation

x=3tan(yπ6)x=3\tan\left(y-\frac{\pi}{6}\right)

(a) Show that

dydx=ax2+b\frac{dy}{dx}=\frac{a}{x^2+b}

where aa and bb are integers to be found.

(4)

The point PP with yy coordinate π3\dfrac{\pi}{3} lies on CC.

Given that the tangent to CC at PP crosses the xx-axis at the point QQ.

(b) find, in simplest form, the exact xx coordinate of QQ.

(5)

x=3tan(yπ6)x=3\tan\left(y-\frac{\pi}{6}\right)

(a) 证明

dydx=ax2+b\frac{dy}{dx}=\frac{a}{x^2+b}

(a)

最后用原方程把 tan(yπ6)\tan\left(y-\frac{\pi}{6}\right) 换成 x3\frac{x}{3},这样答案就只含 xx

We have

x=3tan(yπ6).x=3\tan\left(y-\frac{\pi}{6}\right).

Differentiate with respect to yy:

dxdy=3sec2(yπ6).\frac{\mathrm{d}x}{\mathrm{d}y} =3\sec^2\left(y-\frac{\pi}{6}\right).

Therefore

dydx=13sec2(yπ6).\frac{\mathrm{d}y}{\mathrm{d}x} =\frac{1}{3\sec^2\left(y-\frac{\pi}{6}\right)}.

Use

sec2θ=1+tan2θ.\sec^2\theta=1+\tan^2\theta.

Since

tan(yπ6)=x3,\tan\left(y-\frac{\pi}{6}\right)=\frac{x}{3},

we get

dydx=13(1+(x3)2)=13(x2+99)=3x2+9.\begin{align*} \frac{\mathrm{d}y}{\mathrm{d}x} =&\,\frac{1}{3\left(1+\left(\frac{x}{3}\right)^2\right)} \\[2mm] =&\,\frac{1}{3\left(\frac{x^2+9}{9}\right)} \\[2mm] =&\,\frac{3}{x^2+9}. \end{align*}

Hence

dydx=3x2+9.\boxed{\frac{\mathrm{d}y}{\mathrm{d}x}=\frac{3}{x^2+9}}.

So

a=3,b=9.\boxed{a=3,\qquad b=9}.

(b)

At PP,

y=π3.y=\frac{\pi}{3}.

Substitute this into the curve equation:

x=3tan(π3π6)=3tanπ6=313=3.\begin{align*} x =&\,3\tan\left(\frac{\pi}{3}-\frac{\pi}{6}\right) \\[2mm] =&\,3\tan\frac{\pi}{6} \\[2mm] =&\,3\cdot\frac{1}{\sqrt3} \\[2mm] =&\,\sqrt3. \end{align*}

So

P=(3,π3).P=\left(\sqrt3,\frac{\pi}{3}\right).

From part (a),

dydx=3x2+9.\frac{\mathrm{d}y}{\mathrm{d}x} =\frac{3}{x^2+9}.

At x=3x=\sqrt3,

dydx=3(3)2+9=312=14.\frac{\mathrm{d}y}{\mathrm{d}x} =\frac{3}{(\sqrt3)^2+9} =\frac{3}{12} =\frac14.

The tangent at PP is therefore

yπ3=14(x3).y-\frac{\pi}{3} =\frac14(x-\sqrt3).

At QQ, the tangent crosses the xx-axis, so y=0y=0. Hence

0π3=14(x3).0-\frac{\pi}{3} =\frac14(x-\sqrt3).

Multiply by 44:

4π3=x3.-\frac{4\pi}{3}=x-\sqrt3.

Therefore

x=34π3.\boxed{x=\sqrt3-\frac{4\pi}{3}}.
