Use the equation of the model to answer parts (a), (b), (c) and (d).
(a) Find the number of squirrels in the forest at the start of the study.

Using the answer to part (b),
(c) show that e0.2T=A, where A is a constant to be found.

Use the quotient rule:
dtdN=(19+e0.2t)2(19+e0.2t)(400e0.1t)−(4000e0.1t)(0.2e0.2t)
Simplify the numerator:
(19+e0.2t)(400e0.1t)−(4000e0.1t)(0.2e0.2t)=7600e0.1t+400e0.3t−800e0.3t=7600e0.1t−400e0.3t=400e0.1t(19−e0.2t)

At the maximum point, when t=T,
